Marin Cilic speaks very highly of Italian youngster Jannik Sinner as he believes that the youngster will go a long way

Jannik Sinner has been one of the most rising stars in tennis in recent years. He has shown tremendous improvement in the last couple of years as he broke into the top 10 ATP Rankings. Recently Marin Cilic was all praises for Sinner and the Croatian feels that the youngster has a great future ahead of him.

The Croatian faced the 20-year-old old recently as Croatia locked horns with Italy in Turin in the Davis Cup. It was a nerve-wracking game as Cilic dominated the early exchanges. He took the first set 6- 3 and was serving for the match. However, Sinner came back in the game and restored parity in the tiebreaker and then went on to win the third set, eventually winning the game. Although Croatia qualified to the next round courtesy of their doubles win over Italy.

After their qualification, Cilic spoke very highly of the young Italian. He praised his hard work and dedication towards tennis and highlighted several other aspects.

“Jannik is still extremely young, playing amazing tennis, ” Cilic began. “That’s also what he showed today. I mentioned yesterday that he’s only going to go up, to improve more and more. I know him for already last several years. He’s a hard worker, very dedicated for improvement.”

He also pointed out how tennis in Italy has improved a lot in the last few years and Sinner has been one of the main pillars for the sport’s growth in the country. He also states how Italy has so many players in the top hundred and hopes that Croatia can also replicate the feat.

“I think Italian tennis, in general, has become incredibly good in these last few years, maybe the most players in top hundred, which is incredible. That’s what our guys from Croatia can be envy about, that we get more and more guys into the top hundred like Italy has,” Cilic added.

This has been a fantastic year for Sinner as he reached the 1000 Masters final in Miami. He won a total of four titles this year which also had his first ATP 500 title in Wellington, New Zealand. His consistent performances saw him reach the top 10 in the ATP Men’s Rankings. SInner is definitely one of the finest talents around and Cilic wholeheartedly agrees to that fact as he said, “Definitely great career in front of him. How far he will go nobody knows.”
