Martina Navratilova backs Novak Djokovic to finish his career after winning 24 Grand Slams

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova made some interesting predictions regarding the current generation of stars. She believes that Novak Djokovic will end his career after winning 24 Gram Slam titles. She also hailed Japan’s Naomi Osaka to win the upcoming US Open.

The Serb recently equalled the Grand Slam tally of 20 Majors with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal The 34-year-old at the moment is at the peak of her powers and after the injury and Olympics, Djokovic will win a lot more Grand Slam before drawing the line to his archery career.

Navratilova also agreed that Djokovic can keep on going for another 3-4 years more considering his fitness as a diver.

“Somewhere between 23 and 25. I’m settling on 24,” Navratilova told Tennis.com. He’s a young 34-year-old and he’s still got another three or four years left, and you’ve got to figure he’ll win at least one a year, so yeah, maybe even more. But 24 is a good number I think (for Novak Djokovic to end up with).”

The legendary women’s tennis star also dropped into Naomi Osaka’s context and shared how the young Japanese can make a comeback by winning the US Open which will happen later this year.

“I think she (Naomi Osaka) has a very good chance of repeating and winning the US Open for the third time,” Navratilova said.

Navratilova also spoke around Serena Williams explaining several aspects and also speaking about the chances of her winning a medal. She feels that the American is well capable of winning her 24th Grand Slam in a very prestigious career.

“24 is very possible,” Navratilova said. More probably not. I thought she had a great shot at Wimbledon. Didn’t happen. If she’s healthy then US Open is her best shot at it other than Wimbledon. It’s about a 50-50 proposition at this point.

Djokovic has had a comfortable road till the third round and here he will face local favourite Kei Nishikori. It won’t be a massive tall task for the experienced Serb who defeated German tennis star Jan Lennard-Starc in the last round and will look to improve while he takes up against local hero, Kei Nishikori.
