Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash believes that the first round defeat against Celtics does not affect Kevin Durant’s legacy as a NBA Superstar

The Boston Celtics became the first team in the first round of the playoffs to sweep their opponents as they won Game four 116-112 in Brooklyn to complete the heist and progress to the next round. It was Kevin Durant who did the most of the scoring as he ended with game high of 39 points. Whereas the Celtics shared the load between Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart.

Despite his best effort, he could not avoid the sweep but Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash feels that three games off in a season does not define KD’s legacy. He said, “Look, if Kevin doesn’t score a bucket tonight, I think it would be perilous to say Kevin Durant’s apex is behind him. He’s been unbelievable this year, unbelievable.”

The Brooklyn Nets boss shares how it has been a stretch of rough games for Durantula as he admits that the Celtics did give them a hard time. Nash believes that Kevin Durant was unbelievable for them through the season and one week does not change that.

“He’s just going through a period, he’s struggling a little, they’re posing an elite challenge to our team and he’s had a heavy burden so Kevin Durant is still unbelievable, has been unbelievable for us and this week won’t change that in my eyes,” Nash added.

Ahead of Game four, Durant had a very tough time scoring points. The Boston Celtics’ top-ranked defence did exceptional work to keep Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant at bay. In Games 1 and 2, Durantula shot 31% from the field and 28% from three-point range as he turned the ball over six times in both matches.

He scored 27 points in Game 2 and attempted 20 free throws but went missing in the second half with a horrible 0-10 record. At home in Game three Durant only took 11 shots and scored 16 points which were not enough to stop the Celtics’ onslaught.

But despite the issues, Nash feels that it is just a rough phase for an illustrious career that Kevin Durant had and that won’t be much effect even by the thumping defeat against the Celtics.

“He’s carrying a huge burden for us, particularly coming off a seven-week absence. Think about that, that’s not easy. Coming back from a knee situation, you miss seven weeks, you fought to come back. He comes back and then he has to play 40+ minutes a night.”

The Boston Celtics will now either play the Milwaukee Bucks or the Chicago Bulls. in the second round of the playoffs.
