Miami Heat gave their all in the Eastern Conference finals but lost out against the Boston Celtics. They dragged the series to Game 7 and were pretty good in some junctures especially through their talisman Jimmy Butler. However a campaign filled with injuries and niggles finally came to an end for them this season.
Speaking about the Heat, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins highlighted the chances that are required for the Miami Heat to get back in the reckoning from next season as they aim to dominate the East and win the NBA Championship.
Perkins shares that Heat already have special players in Jimmy Butler and sixth man of the year, Tyler Herro but they still need another special piece to make this team tick in these important matches. According to Perkins the Miami Heat should target Washington Wizards star Breadley Beal.
The former Celtics man highlighted how the Heat need another perimeter player and he believes that the Heat can take advantage of the situation of Wizards and steal away Beal who himself is not clear about his future. Perkins said, “I think they need another perimeter player and I would have to go with Bradley Beal. I’m looking at him in DC and I don’t think they’re going anywhere.”
“I look at the Miami Heat, they have some attractive pieces, a guy like Tyler Herro, and package something else up and get Bradley Beal with a Jimmy Butler, I think that will be great for the Miami Heat and I think it enhances their opportunity to win the championship next season,” Perkins added.
Bradley Beal is one of the most exciting prospects in the offseason market as many franchises are interested in the Wizards talisman. Therefore he has a big decision to make heading into the offseason this time out. Beal’s current contract expires at the end of 2022-23 season. After that he will then become an unrestricted free agent and will have all the freedom in the world to join any team that he desires.
But it is for sure having someone of Beal’s quality along with Butler and Tyler Herro in the same team will increase Heat’s chances of winning the Eastern Conference. They were riddled with injuries and yet they kept fighting and almost caught the Celtics off guard even in Game 7. So they definitely have the pedigree to win the Championships in a couple of years with some significant trades.
