Jake Paul wins Nate Diaz by unanimous decision

Jake Paul redeemed himself with a unanimous decision victory over former UFC fighter, Nate Diaz. The two fought a 10-bout round in the early hours of Sunday, and by the last round, both men were still standing.

But it was Jake Paul’s performance that impressed judges the most, earning a score of 97-92, 98-91, and 98-91 in his favour. The win improves Paul’s professional record to 7-1 and puts him back in favour after losing to Tommy Fury earlier this year.

Throughout the intense 10-round fight, Paul clearly held the advantage, demonstrating his superior conditioning and resilience. Diaz, a renowned mixed martial arts fighter who left the UFC in 2022, posed a threat of knockout at various moments, showcasing his toughness and determination.

Diaz tried to dominate by delivering several impactful blows toward the end of the third round, momentarily staggering Paul before the bell. The 38-year-old fighter continued to exhibit his offensive skills in the fourth round, eliciting cheers from the fervent pro-Diaz crowd.

However, as the fight progressed, Diaz appeared fatigued, allowing Paul to capitalize on the opportunity. In the fifth round, Paul expertly executed a clean left hook, sending Diaz to the canvas briefly before landing successive blows to his head later in the round.

As the later rounds unfolded, Diaz’s stability waned, evident from his unsteady footwork. Even in the 10th and final round, Diaz displayed defiant gestures, turning away from Paul and placing both hands on the top rope while shaking his head disdainfully at his opponent. But all of that did not stop the judges from awarding Paul with better scores at the end of the fight.

Now that Paul has won a fight and escaped early retirement, as hinted last week, all eyes are on who his next opponent would be and when his next fight would take place. A possible rematch with Fury might happen, or he may want to try his hands on a being in line for a title shot.
