Arda Güler taking Club World Cup opportunity to cement first team spot

Real Madrid’s young star Arda Güler, nicknamed the “Turkish Messi,” is thriving under new manager Xabi Alonso.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder struggled to find his footing last season under Carlo Ancelotti, but Alonso’s appointment has brought about a significant change in his fortunes.

Güler has been instrumental in Real Madrid’s recent victories, including a 3-1 win over Pachuca at the Club World Cup, where he scored the second goal. His rise to prominence began at Fenerbahçe, where he made his professional debut at just 16 years old.

His performances earned him a move to Real Madrid in July 2023, where he signed a six-year contract. Despite facing challenges in his first season, Güler has found his groove under Alonso, who has given him the freedom to play in his preferred central midfield role.

In Real Madrid’s victories over Pachuca and RB Salzburg, Güler showcased his skills, completing more passes than any other player on the field.

His impressive displays have led many to believe that he is ready to replace Luka Modric, who is set to leave the club after the Club World Cup.

Vitor Pereira, Güler’s former coach at Fenerbahçe, believes that the youngster has the potential to become a world superstar. Pereira praised Güler’s exceptional talent, intelligence, and work ethic, stating that he reminds him of James Rodriguez, a former player he coached at Porto.

Güler’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and he has become a key player for Real Madrid. As the team prepares to face Juventus in the Club World Cup, Güler’s role is expected to be crucial. With his impressive skills and growing confidence, Güler is likely to continue making waves in the football world.

As one of the most promising young players in the world, Güler’s future looks bright. With Real Madrid’s wealth of talent and Alonso’s guidance, Güler is poised to take his game to the next level.
