Inter have submitted a €40 million bid for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, which is below the valuation of the winger as stated by La Dea.
According to reports, the club are standing firm on their demands of €50 million for the player.
SkySport reported that Inter lodged an official bid following telephone discussions on Wednesday.
Latest reports from Italy suggest that Atalanta is unwilling to budge from its initial demands, and this may be an obstacle in the way of a deal being reached.
As Atalanta consider the €40 million proposal unreasonable, the reports also claim that Inter are themselves determined not to bid above their valuation of the player.
It’s now left to see if the €10 million difference could lead to a test of resolve amongst both parties.
Inter, who have already agreed on personal terms with the player, believe they can use that to leverage the transfer in their favour.
Inter legend Christian Vieri had urged the Nerazurri to sign Lookman, who he described as a ‘game-changer’.
Meanwhile, Inter are set to sell Aleksandar Stankovic to Club Brugge for €10m plus a percentage of the sell-on fee.
According to the report, the Italian giants will maintain a buy-back clause for €25m rather than €28m.
After the basic fee had been agreed last week, the transfer agreement came to a halt over the issue of the buy-back clause.
According to reports, Inter wanted it for two years, setting a relatively low figure of up to €25m, whereas Club Brugge were hoping for one year and closer to €30m.
Sportitalia reported that the final fee is €10m plus a percentage of the sale fee, with a clause of €25m valid until 2027.
This was also confirmed by Belgian transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, who revealed that both clubs have reached an agreement, but what couldn’t be confirmed was if the €28m clause is indeed lowered to €25m.
