Barcelona considering Bournemouth star as alternative to Álvarez

Barcelona are exploring alternative attacking options amid uncertainty over a potential move for Julián Álvarez, with AFC Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi emerging as one of the club’s leading targets. 

The Catalan giants are reportedly monitoring the highly rated French striker as they assess their options ahead of the new season, though no formal agreement has been reached.

According to reports, Bournemouth are unwilling to entertain offers for Kroupi unless they receive a bid of around €130 million. 

The Premier League club are under no pressure to sell the 20-year-old, who remains under contract until 2030, giving them a strong negotiating position should interest intensify during the transfer window.

Kroupi enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League, scoring 13 league goals after completing his move from French side Lorient. 

Before arriving in England, the striker netted 22 goals during his final season in France, performances that convinced Bournemouth to invest in the young forward.

Bournemouth’s valuation reflects both Kroupi’s potential and the club’s recent success in negotiating lucrative player sales. 

The Cherries have generated significant transfer income in recent seasons, including the departures of Antoine Semenyo, Dean Huijsen, and Ilya Zabarnyi, reinforcing their reputation as tough negotiators in the transfer market.

Despite their interest, Barcelona are unlikely to meet Bournemouth’s asking price due to their financial limitations. 

Club officials are expected to remain patient as they continue to monitor developments regarding Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, who has reportedly been attempting to secure a move away from the Spanish capital.

For now, Barcelona’s strategy appears to be centered on waiting to see whether Álvarez becomes available, while keeping alternative options, such as Kroupi, under consideration. 

The club is also focused on retaining key squad members, including Ferran Torres, amid reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain, as it looks to strengthen the team without exceeding its financial constraints.
