According to reports in Spain, Barcelona have organised an extensive pre-match programme, with gates opening two hours early to allow fans to experience the full lineup of festivities.
Music from a DJ will welcome supporters as they enter, followed by a central performance segment leading into kick-off.
Catalan duo Figa Flawas will perform shortly before the match begins, while the Orfeó Català choir is set to deliver the ‘Cant del Barça’ alongside fireworks to celebrate the club’s return.
The identity of the person selected for the ceremonial kick-off remains the club’s most closely guarded secret. Barcelona officials have refused to reveal who will take on the honour, instead teasing that more surprises are planned throughout the evening. At halftime, the popular musical group The Tyets will perform as part of the celebrations.
Club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco have both described the reopening as a deeply emotional moment for the institution.
Laporta has called the return to Camp Nou “a historic moment,” while Deco shared a series of messages on social media expressing pride in the stadium’s transformation.
Barcelona’s comeback to the stadium concludes an unexpectedly long renovation saga. Originally scheduled for completion in 2024, the €1.5bn modernisation project faced significant delays, including construction challenges, shifting timelines, and lengthy administrative approvals.
These issues forced Barcelona to divide home matches between the Estadi Johan Cruyff and the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys during the past two seasons.
Saturday’s match against Athletic Club will serve as the first operational test of the partially reopened stadium, which now includes upgraded VIP sections, improved infrastructure, and redesigned player areas.
While full 105,000-seat capacity is still months away, the club believes returning to Camp Nou will provide a major psychological boost for Hansi Flick’s squad after two years of instability.
