Bayern Munich declares Upamecano not for sale

With the summer transfer window in full gear, Bayern has been actively participating and has already signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool. There have also been some outgoings with the exit of Niklas Sule to Dortmund, Omar Richards, and the possible exit of star forward Robert Lewandowski.

With that aside, the Bavarians are set to get busy again this window as they look to bring in reinforcements for the center-back position. The identified target for this role is Juventus Matthijs de Ligt.

There have been positive talks between both clubs, and all that needs is a fee to be agreed for the transfer.

However, the arrival of the Netherlands international will not make the future of other center-backs in the team doubt.

There have been reports linking Bayern center-back Dayot Upamecano away from the club to Chelsea, with the Frenchman recently changing agents. The reason behind such action might be that he wants to seek a move.

News emanating from Germany has now rubbished such rumors claiming to be “false” as Bayern Munich has no intention to sell, and the club hierarchies see him as an integral member of the squad.

[Dayot] Upamecano arrived at the Allianz Arena from RB Leipzig last summer after beating several teams In Europe to this signature. He wasted no time and adjusted quickly, with the team putting some excellent display at Bayern’s defense.

There will be high hopes for the huge center-back to continue his form this season as he hopes to book a place in Didier Deschamps’s squad for the World Cup in November.

Being one of the best central defenders in the league, it would make no sense for Bayern to let go of one of their most prized assets just after a season.

He will aim to partner De Ligt in the defense if the latter eventually completes the move down to the club.

Another situation to keep an eye on in this window for Bayern is Benjamin Pavard’s role in the squad, as the French international has always preferred the heart of defense instead of the right back. The signing of Mazaroui, Upamecano’s stay, and the potential arrival of DeLigt could further push him down the pecking order. It will be intestine to see where he ends up before closing the transfer window.
