Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has praised teammate Leon Goretzka after his impressive performance in the team’s 3-2 win over Wolfsburg on Matchday 18 of the Bundesliga. Goretzka scored twice in the match, helping Bayern Munich maintain their four-point lead atop the table.
Neuer himself had a decent game but failed to keep a clean sheet, and while addressing the issue post-game, he said the Bavarians had good chances, which was the case against Gladbach, where they kept a clean sheet but on Saturday against Wolfsburg; things got tight, at the end.
The German goalkeeper also acknowledged that the team missed several scoring chances but was pleased with their overall performance. He was specific in praises for Goretzka, who has been in excellent form lately.
“We supported him and knew that his time would come. He always gave it his all, and this is the reward for that.” Neuer said.
Goretzka’s brace was a key factor in Bayern Munich’s win, and he will be looking to continue his good form in the team’s upcoming matches.
The win over Wolfsburg was a hard-fought one for Bayern Munich, but they ultimately emerged victorious, taking them four points ahead of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen with a trip to the Netherlands coming up in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich will need to showcase that ability to grind out results in tough matches against Feyenoord on Wednesday, and they will be looking to continue this trend in their upcoming matches.
Bayern Munich’s next Bundesliga match is against Freiburg, and they will need to be at their best if they are to come away with a win. However, with players like Goretzka in good form, they will be confident of their chances.
On Sunday, two Bundesliga matches were played as Union Berlin beat Mainz 2-1 from behind, and Augsburg picked all three points in their trip to Werder Bremen in a 2-0 win.
