Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has revealed his intention to stay with the Red Devils until the end of his contract in 2026, despite rumors of a potential summer exit. The Brazilian’s comments come as a surprise, given the speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
Casemiro, 32, has struggled for form and minutes under manager Ruben Amorim, leading to reports of a possible departure. However, in an interview Casemiro expressed his commitment to the club, stating that he wants to help Manchester United climb out of their current rut.
“Of course, I’d like to play more. I don’t know any player who doesn’t want to play and help. I’d like to help the club at this time. I approach things with respect for my teammates and the technical committee. I respect United, a club to which I’m very grateful. I have a year and a half left on my contract and I’d like to fulfil it here in Manchester.” he told reporters.
The midfielder’s decision is a boost to the club, which has been plagued by injuries and illness in recent weeks. Casemiro started in Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, and may be in line for another start against Everton on February 22, depending on the availability of other players.
Casemiro’s contract situation has been a topic of discussion in recent months, with his deal set to expire in 2026. The Brazilian’s comments suggest that he is willing to see out his contract and help Manchester United return to prominence.
The news will come as a relief to Manchester United fans, who have grown accustomed to Casemiro’s presence in the team. Despite his struggles this season, the midfielder remains a key player for the Red Devils, and his commitment to the club is a positive step forward.
With Casemiro committed to staying at Manchester United, the focus will now shift to the team’s upcoming fixtures, including the clash with Everton on February 22. The Red Devils will be looking to bounce back from their recent loss to Tottenham Hotspur and climb the Premier League table.
