Celtic Defender Hails Team Performance after winning the Cup

Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has hailed his team performance after their win over old rivals Rangers. The center back was an unlikely match-winner as he celebrated his first-ever medal after Celtic 1-0 win at Hampden Park yesterday.

The French center back who cost the club a record fee of 7m pounds from Toulouse in the summer converted a free-kick from Ryan Christie in the left-wing on the hour mark to hand the champions their 10th successive domestic title.

Lennon’s side was reduced to 10 men after Jeremie Frimpong was sent off for a foul on Alfredo Morelos in the box, which saw Fraser Forster denying the striker from the spot-kick.

Rangers had the opportunity to draw level, but Colombian striker Morelos who has failed to score against the Hoops in 11 games, kept losing a lot of chances.

Celtic held on firmly as the game wore on till six minutes of stoppage time with Jullien and his co-defenders repelling every single attack posed by Steven Gerrard’s men.

After the game, the towering center back was quizzed as regards the win. He said, “I am thrilled we got the win, and I say a huge congratulations to all the team. We did just a perfect job. It is amazing, and it shows the team has a lot of strength and character.”

When asked how he felt, the Frenchman revealed that it was a beautiful day for him and the most significant moment in his career as he finally wins a trophy. “it was a stubborn game, but we gave it our all. It’s just unbelievable”.

Celtic number one shot-stopper added saying, winning the trophy means a lot to him. “the direction the ball went was where I chose to dive to initially. And I am glad we won in the end.
