Chelsea FC have begun contacting potential candidates as the club steps up its search for a new permanent head coach following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior last month.
The London side are hoping to appoint a manager before the start of pre-season training in early July as preparations begin for the 2026-27 campaign.
Several high-profile names are already under consideration, including former AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, ex-Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, and Fulham FC head coach Marco Silva.
Chelsea are also believed to admire Oliver Glasner, who is set to leave Crystal Palace FC when his contract expires this summer.
Former Chelsea players Filipe Luis and Cesc Fabregas are also understood to be among the names being monitored by the club’s hierarchy.
Both managers have impressed in their early coaching careers, with Fabregas currently in charge of Como 1907 after guiding the Italian side through a strong campaign.
Chelsea’s search comes during another period of managerial instability at Stamford Bridge, with the club now looking for their fourth permanent head coach since the beginning of the 2023-24 season.
Club officials are believed to be prioritising a long-term appointment capable of rebuilding consistency after another turbulent year.
One factor working in Chelsea’s favour is that several candidates could be available without compensation fees.
Iraola has already confirmed he will leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, while Glasner is also departing Crystal Palace this summer.
Alonso is likewise expected to be unattached by the end of the campaign, making negotiations potentially simpler for Chelsea.
Competition for some targets is expected to be intense. Crystal Palace reportedly see Iraola as their preferred replacement for Glasner and have already held extensive talks with the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, Silva is attracting interest from clubs abroad and from Saudi Arabia, even though Fulham have offered him a new three-year contract to remain at Craven Cottage.
