Fiorentina hold Napoli in Florence

Fiorentina held Napoli at the Franchi on Sunday in a Serie A clash that could have finished 4-4.

The game ended 1-1 as De Gea and Milinkovic-Savic produced a save apiece every few minutes, with the woodwork intervening three times inside the first 30 minutes.

Fiorentina were in front foot for the first twenty minutes, calling Napoli goalkeeper Milinkovic-Savic to action. Arthur Atta managed a shot after losing balance as it clipped the crossbar.

A few minutes later, Milinkovic-Savic pushed Nicolo Fagioli’s effort from 25 yards onto the post.

Napoli answered immediately through Matteo Politano, who delivered a cross that found Mathias Olivera, whose diving header hit the upright before De Gea tipped the Uruguayan’s follow-up over.

The visitors then went ahead from the resulting corner as Politano delivered from the left and Billy Gilmour arrived unmarked to guide a volley into the bottom corner, to score his first Serie A goal since September 2025. 

The goal,, a product of a training-ground routine,, made the Scottish run to Allegri’s assistant Marco Landucci to credit him.

Fiorentina had chances to equalize before the break as Franco Mastantuono flicked a header wide from Mateo Pellegrino’s cross.

Few minutes later, Noa Lang fired over twice in the closing stages of the first half; Napoli ended narrowly on top on expected goals.

The hosts eventually restored parity in the 51st minute through an own goal. Alex Jimenez collected possession just outside the box after Cher Ndour’s pass, and his shot deflected off Rafa Marin and past a stranded Milinkovic-Savic.

The momentum shifted to the hosts as Mastantuono dragged an effort wide, then squared it for Fagioli, who somehow curled it wide from a good position. 

Victor Valdepenas again Milinkovic-Savic called into on the hour after Alieu Njie’s break down the right.

Substitutes Lorenzo Lucca and David Neres looked for the winner in the last 20 minutes, but De Gea denied Neres from six yards in the 76th minute, then tipped over a thumping Favasuli header three minutes later after more good work from Neres.
