He more than deserves it – Zinedine Zidane backs Karim Benzema to win Ballon d’Or

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has put his weight behind Karim Benzema to win Ballon d’Or 2022. Benzema had a stellar previous season for Los Blancos as he delivered the goods for the Spanish giants in all the competitions.

The striker went on to score 44 goals in 46 matches across competitions. Furthermore, the forward provided 15 assists in the previous season.

The French forward played an instrumental role in the success of the club as he brought his best to the table. Real Madrid won their 35th La Liga Title as they continued their domination. Moreover, the Spanish club clinched their 14th UEFA Champions League crown to extend their record after beating Liverpool in the final.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid was trailing by 3-2 against Chelsea in the first leg of the UCL quarterfinal but the star striker was able to score a brilliant hat-trick in the second leg.

Moreover, Benzema had scored from a penalty in the second leg of the semifinal against Manchester City as Los Blancos had bounced back out of nowhere to score three goals in the fag end of the game.

Zidane told French publication L’Equipe: “I’m not the only one saying give Benzema the Ballon D’or, the whole world is. He more than deserves it.”

There is no doubt that Benzema will be a big favorite to win Ballon D’or in 2022 after his prolific performances throughout the season for the club. Furthermore, Benzema was able to get the best out of his players as a leader and delivered in crunch situations of the game.

On the other hand, Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah will also be big contenders for the prestigious award but Benzema is going to have an advantage as he took Real Madrid to glory in the Champions League.
