He’s better when he’s coming inside the pitch, when he’s linking with players – Paul Scholes on Jadon Sancho

Former Manchester United legendary midfielder Paul Scholes feels Jadon Sancho is better when he’s coming inside the pitch and when is linking with players. Scholes urged Erik Ten Hag to not use Sancho as a winger.

Meanwhile, there were a lot of expectations from the England international when he joined the Red Devils from Dortmund ahead of the previous season. However, he could not deliver the goods for the team.

Sancho has been able to turn the tables and he has scored three goals in the last six appearances for Manchester United. The 22-year-old youngster scored the opening goal in his team’s 2-0 win over Sheriff.

Scholes feels Sancho should have been included in England’s squad ahead of Jack Grealish based on current form.

‘Gareth [Southgate] has picked his players for a reason, possibly from previous squads,’ Scholes told BT Sport.

‘I think he deserves to be in over Jack Grealish at the minute. He scored a really good goal against Liverpool, showing really good signs tonight.

‘He’s better when he’s coming inside the pitch, when he’s linking with players.

‘He doesn’t have that electrifying pace to go past someone down the outside or on the inside.

Scholes added that Sancho used to get support from Erling Haaland when he played for Dortmund and he can get the same support from Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen at Manchester United.

‘When he was good at Dortmund, he had [Erling] Haaland to link with, [Achraf] Hakimi, he always had someone to link with.

‘If he can do that with Manchester United, if he can find Fernandes and Eriksen, really clever players to link with, he could be a good player for United.’

Manchester United will next take on Manchester City on 2nd October.
