I’m not here to make my haters happy, I’m here to make my fans happy – Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments resurface amid transfer rumors

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments on loyalty have resurfaced amid transfer talks. Ronaldo has reportedly asked to leave Red Devils as he wants to play for a club that has already qualified for UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United had finished in sixth place in the points table in the previous season and thus they would not be able to take part in the Champions League. The Red Devils could only bag 58 points in the league, which is their worst ever points tally.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo had earlier said that he is here is make his fans happy as they are loyal to him and not his haters happy.

Ronaldo had said in 2017 as quoted by the Mirror, “I just don’t care about that (hate), I just try to do my job, try to be myself. Haters, everyone has haters, not only me. It’s part of the business. I go to bed every night in a good mood, happy, I sleep good every night. I’m not here to make my haters happy, I’m hear to make my fans happy because they are loyal to me.”

On the other hand, Paul Merson has advised Manchester United to sell Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker was the team’s top performer in the previous season as he had scored 24 goals in 38 matches across all competitions for the club. Ronaldo scored 18 goals and provided three assists in the Premier League.

Paul Merson wrote in his column for the Daily, “I’m sure Erik ten Hag wants to play a certain way. He’ll want United to play like Ajax. To press and move the ball quickly. But it’s going to be hard for a team with Cristiano Ronaldo in it to be a high-intensity pressing team. He’s not going to be chasing down every ball is he?”

He added: “If the manager gets them in the top four I think he’s done a great job. I really do. He needs to consolidate and just get them into the Champions League. United fans shouldn’t expect much more.”

In fact, Ronaldo had earlier said that he wants to work with Erik Ten Hag as he had done a fine job. After Ronaldo reportedly asked the club to grant him the leave, Erik Ten Hag said that the striker is not for sale.
