Italian coach Antonio Conte admits that it will take time to rebuild Tottenham Hotspur

Italian manager Antonio Conte was hugely disappointed with Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 defeat against Slovenian outift, Mura in the UEFA Conference League. The Italian tactician feels that it will take time to rebuild Spurs from their current slump.

Amadej Marosa scored a last-minute goal to hand his side a historic win against Spurs that left Conte fuming at the sidelines. The former Inter Milan manager expressed his disappointment at the post match press conference. Conte stated, “This a bad loss for us. The performance was poor. We know we have a lot of work ahead of us. This is a difficult moment for us.

“We need patience to improve, to be good again. We were poor not only technically and tactically but also mentally. It will take time to bring Tottenham back.”

The former Chelsea manager who won the Premier League with the Blues highlighted how it will take a lot of time to bring Tottenham Hotspur back in line. He pointed out how the current level at Spurs is not very high.

Conte added: “After three weeks I am starting to understand the situation. It is not simple. At this moment the level at Tottenham is not so high.”

Conte rotated the starting lineup that won 2-1 against Leeds United in the Premier League. He made a total of nine changes to the lineup but still started with Harry Kane, Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli against Mura. Despite all the quality and strength in their starting eleven, Mura scored first as Tommy Morvat handed the Slovenians an early lead.

Things went from bad to worse when Ryan Sessegnon was booked for the second time and was given marching orders. Kane found the equaliser for the North London outfit in the second half. But it was Marosa’ late deflected goal that handed Mura a historic win.

Antonio Conte’s men will now have to beat French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes in their last league stage match to book a place in the knockouts of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The Lillywhites have been very topsy turvy this season in the Premier League. Tottenham will next face Burnley at home in the Premier League.
