Jack Grealish issues rallying cry

Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish feels his team will be fine this season if they can cut out individual errors. After a 3-1 loss at Tottenham and a 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, Dean Smith’s side find themselves on no points and ruing mistakes made in the two games.

Villa spent the second most money of any Premier League team over the summer and now the West Midlands outfit are learning the ruthlessness of football back in the top flight. Grealish though is optimistic about what the side can achieve this season but knows the errors must be cut out if they are to avoid the drop back down to the Championship.

He told the club’s official website: “It’s disappointing and – we’ve all said it (in the dressing room), the manager (Dean Smith) said it to us – we have to cut out the mistakes. “I gave away the ball last week for Harry Kane’s goal [in the 3-1 loss at Tottenham] and then we’ve given away a penalty and a deflected goal [on Saturday].

“I thought we were the much better team after the first 15, 20 minutes. But that’s this league for you. When you make mistakes, you do get punished. “As soon as we cut these mistakes out, I am sure we will be fine.”

Grealish’s side are next in action in the Premier League on Friday night when they welcome Marco Silva’s Everton to Villa Park. Villa are 3.00 to win, 3.50 to draw and Everton are currently trading 2.21.
