A stunning stoppage-time equaliser from Jeremy Doku ensured City salvaged a point in a Monday evening Premier League game at the Hill-Dickinson stadium that swung wildly in the second half.
The match delivered a dramatic spectacle as Everton and Manchester City played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night.
City had taken the lead just before the break when Jérémy Doku curled a brilliant strike into the top corner in the 43rd minute.
Pep Guardiola’s side appeared in control at half-time, but the game took a chaotic turn after the interval as Everton mounted a fierce comeback.
The hosts drew level in the 68th minute through Thierno Barry after a defensive lapse, before Jake O’Brien headed Everton in front five minutes later.
Barry struck again in the 81st minute to make it 3-1, capping a remarkable spell that left City reeling and Guardiola stunned on the touchline.
City responded quickly, with Erling Haaland dinking the ball home in the 83rd minute to reduce the deficit and reignite hope for the visitors.
The momentum shifted again as City pushed forward relentlessly in search of an equaliser during a tense closing period.
Deep into stoppage time, Doku produced a moment of brilliance to rescue City. In the seventh minute of added time, the winger curled an unstoppable effort into the top corner to make it 3-3, completing an extraordinary comeback and silencing the home crowd.
While the draw demonstrated City’s resilience, it dealt a blow to their title ambitions as they remain five points behind the leaders Arsenal, with games running out.
The Gunners will lead with two points even if Manchester City win their outstanding game against Crystal Palace, meaning they could win their first title in over 20 years if they win their remaining three games.
Everton, meanwhile, will take encouragement from a spirited performance that keeps their hopes of a top-six finish alive after one of the most dramatic matches of the season.
