Jurgen Klopp happy to stick with squad

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he has not made any major signings this summer as he has no doubts over the ability of his current squad.

The Reds missed out on the Premier League title by just one point last season and won the Champions League.

Liverpool begin the new season with a home game against Norwich and can be backed at 12.00 to win 3-1, while Sadio Mane is 4.00 to score the first goal.

Klopp has signed youngsters Harvey Elliot and Sepp van den Berg this summer as well as keeper Adrian, who will act as a back-up to Alisson, but the German has resisted the urge to bring in any marquee names despite some big spending by their main rivals.

“You should never do transfers because other clubs are doing transfers,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “That makes no sense, it’s not about that. And if you sit back for a second and have a look at the squad, do we need more players? People will say, yes, we need a substitute for Sadio Mane, for Mohamed Salah, whatever.

“But those players are here. So, do you get a one-for-one replacement? A big signing? People think that players from other clubs, other countries, are better than the players we have here but without really having the proof, because those players haven’t played here, or whatever else.

“It’s just that what is new is seen as more exciting. It’s like with a new car. Your old car is completely reliable, but you want a new one and two weeks later it breaks down. It looks better, but obviously it’s not that good.”

Liverpool are 3.50 to go one better and win the Premier League title this season, while defending champions Manchester City are 1.53 to take the top domestic prize.
