Juventus are hit with another injury blow, as Manuel Locatelli and Jeremie Boga join seven others sidelined on a long-term basis.
Reports confirm that the Bianconeri now have none players on the treatment table after just three Serie A matches of the 2026-27 season.
With the transfer window already shut, Spalletti now needs to find ways to replace his nine key first-team players. This could open doors for academy players, who now have a chance to take chances if the tactician gives them the opportunity.
How the Bianconeri will cope will be the order of the day as they are also in the Europa League this season.
Before traveling to Sassuolo on Sunday, they will first welcome Dutch side NEC in the second-tier European club tournament.
Monday’s reports confirmed skipper Locatelli will miss a major part of the season. The midfielder needs surgery to fix his torn meniscus.
Reports also say the Italy international will miss around three months, though La Gazzetta dello Sport hints it could stretch to six.
If that becomes the case, the Italy international won’t be back until winter. Even then, he may need some game time to get fit again after returning in January.
Juventus haven’t yet confirmed how serious Jeremie Boga’s injury is.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Ivorian, who suffered a muscle injury, will miss several weeks, possibly out of action until the next international break.
Juventus are already without Khephren Thuram, who’s expected back in 2027, Kenan Yildiz, sidelined for months, Jeff Ekhator and Juan Cabal.
Spalletti will be hoping that new signings Pape Matar Sarr and US midfielder Weston McKennie are fit for their next games, as both were unable to play in the last two Serie A matches.
Juventus’ midfield and part of the attack might suddenly lose momentum, raising real concerns for Spalletti. The ex-Italy coach is stuck with players like Douglas Luiz and Teun Koopmeiners, both of whom Juventus had been eager to offload earlier in the summer transfer window.
