Bayer Leverkusen are preparing to reward rising star Ibrahim Maza with an improved and extended contract, underscoring the club’s determination to secure one of its most promising young talents for the long term.

The 20-year-old Algerian international, whose current deal runs until 2030, has already made an early impact this season.

 In the opening fixtures of the Bundesliga campaign, he has contributed a goal and an assist, underlining the rapid progress that has impressed the Leverkusen hierarchy.

According to inside sources, the first formal discussions over a new agreement took place last week. 

Club officials are said to be highly satisfied with Maza’s development and are keen to tie him down on improved terms before interest from elsewhere intensifies further.

At present, Maza’s salary is less than €3 million per year, placing him in the lower third of Leverkusen’s wage structure.

An upgraded package would reflect both his growing importance and the club’s desire to keep him content at the BayArena.

Interest in the midfielder surfaced during the recent summer transfer window, with La Liga heavyweights Atlético Madrid among the clubs monitoring his situation. 

Leverkusen successfully resisted those approaches, but the attention from abroad has only strengthened the resolve to act promptly.

By offering Maza better financial terms and potentially adding further years to his contract, the Rhineland club aims to send a clear message about its commitment to developing and retaining homegrown and emerging talent. 

For a player still only 20, the proposed deal would represent significant recognition of the strides he has already made and the potential he continues to show.
