Manchester United hold Leeds United in 2-2 draw

Jadon Sancho scored a late equalizer as Manchester United came from two goals down to hold Leeds United to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday in the Premier League.

Both sides went into the fixture on contrasting fortunes as United were in a form that sent them eight points behind League leaders Arsenal and third on the table, while Leeds United recently sacked Jesse Marsch after a 7-game winless run that stretched as far back as November 2022.

Although Leeds United went into the game with a caretaker manager, they looked like a side that was ready to break its unwanted streak after going into the lead in the first 60 seconds of the game.

The side that sat in 17th position before the start of the game the opener through a brilliant give-and-go between Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto, who slotted past David DeGea in goal.

Leeds United World doubled the advantage thanks to an own goal from Raphael Varane in the second half. Despite Leeds United’s second goal coming just three minutes after the break, Manchester United did not relent, and they soon found their own first goal of the game through in form Marcus Rashford.

However, the equalizer did not come until the 70th minute through Jadon Sancho. Leeds United forward Wilfred Gnonto believed that the visiting side did enough to win the game.

“We did a really good game. We tried to stay together and fight together. We proved we have a top team. It’s a little bit of mixed emotions because we wanted to win. We always want to start games well. We want to show the opponents we’re there and want to win. Of course, it went well, but we conceded two goals at the end.” Gnonto said
