Danish international Patrick Dorgu is already a Manchester United player after completing his move from Serie A side Lecce.

According to reports in Italy, Dorgu’s move from Lecce to Manchester United is now a done deal for what has become a record sale for the Serie A minnows. 

Several reports from several outlets, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, say the Red Devils and Lecce have agreed on a total package for the 20-year-old Denmark international. 

However, some conflicting reports exist on the exact transfer fee amount. According to the Pink Paper,   United will pay a fee of €38m to sign Dorgu in January, and €32m-€33m will be guaranteed. Transfer Journalists Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto claimed that the deal was worth €35m and included bonuses. 

From all indications, the young defender is already packing his belongings and preparing for his big move to Manchester. 

United finally secured the service of Dorgu after Lecce had turned down a series of bids for him t earlier in the transfer window. The Serie A side had been holding out for a €40m fee, but they were eventually persuaded to let the player leave for a figure marginally lower than the asking price. 

Dorgu is now the club’s most expensive sale of all time. This almost doubled the club’s current highest sale: The €19.5 million received from Sporting CP for the signing of Morten Hjulmand in the summer of 2023. 

As a replacement for the lad, Lecce had announced the signing of two new defenders: Danilo Veiga and Tiago Gabriel, both of whom are versatile defenders capable of playing at full-back, where Dorgu has most regularly featured. 

Dorgu last played for the club in the 4-0 loss to Inter over the weekend.

He is, therefore, expected to fit into the starting lineup of United immediately after all paperwork is completed.
