Manchester United Sign Bryan Mbeumo in £65 Million Deal from Brentford

Manchester United have bolstered their attacking lineup with the signing of Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, the club confirmed on Monday. The 25-year-old forward has penned a contract running until 2030, with an option to extend for an additional year.

The deal sees United pay £65 million ($88 million) upfront, with a further £6 million potentially due in performance-based add-ons, according to a club source. Mbeumo joins after a standout season with Brentford, where he netted 20 Premier League goals — the fourth-highest tally in the league behind Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams, the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” Mbeumo said. “My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit of character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”

Mbeumo’s versatility was key to his success at Brentford. He thrived both as a right winger and centre forward, starting every league game in the 2024–25 season. His consistency and output — 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances since arriving from French club Troyes in 2019 — made him a crucial figure in Brentford’s rise to Premier League stability.

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised the signing, calling Mbeumo “one of our primary targets.”

“Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England for the last three seasons,” Wilcox said.

“We are delighted to have secured another one of our primary targets ahead of the pre-season tour. The experience in the U.S. will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new teammates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead.”

Mbeumo is set to join United’s pre-season tour in the United States, where they will face West Ham United on July 26 in New Jersey, Bournemouth on July 30 in Chicago, and Everton on August 3 in Atlanta. His arrival adds firepower to a United side aiming to reignite their title ambitions under new manager Ruben Amorim.
