Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has insisted that the team have the ‘perfect’ build-up to the Champions League Final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The skipper said they already had experience in Istanbul when they lost to Manchester City two seasons ago.
They will clash with PSG in Munich on Saturday, May 31, 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT, 21.00 CET).
PSG had a similar experience in the 2020 season when they lost to Bayern Munich.
Although there is a much change in personnel in the squad compared to the Nerazzurri, who are largely unchanged from the disappointment of 2023,
“We arrive with a little more experience compared to the game in Istanbul, as two years ago we played the Final against a strong team, we lost, but also matured a great deal since then,” the 2022 World Cup winner told Sky Sport Italia.
He added that Inter will arrive perfectly, in every sense as the squad is almost the same one played in Istanbul.
“We know it will be tough, but we showed a spirit of sacrifice and unity, deserving our place in this Final. Now, there is one last step to take.”
Although Inter lost the Scudetto to Napoli on the final day by a single point, Martinez feels they still have a ‘perfect’ build-up against the Ligue 1 champions.
Inter also lost the Supercoppa Italiana Final and the Coppa Italia semifinal this season, which means they could well go from potential Treble winners to ending the campaign trophyless.
Martinez, who confessed to being sad for the first three days after losing a trophy, said that is just how he experienced football.
In contrast, PSG are on the verge of winning a treble, or quadruple if the French Super Cup is considered.
The Inter captain had been struggling with an injury that led to his substitution during the semifinal against Barcelona but still managed to play his part in the 7-6 aggregate thriller.
After being rested for several weeks to regain full fitness, Martinez said he feels at 100 percent.
