Milan captain Mike Maignan has said Diavolo are hungry to win the Coppa Italia as they trade tackles against Bologna on Wednesday.

The Frenchman expressed belief that he and his teammates must not feel too much pressure against Bologna, as ‘What happened before doesn’t matter anymore.’

Speaking during a pre-match press conference at the Olimpico in Rome, the skipper said the squad is hungry “because we want to bring this trophy home, for all Milan fans”.

Maignan described the day as important for Milan in terms of playing finals and winning trophies.

“We can write a page in the history of the club. But we must not have too much pressure; we must keep our cool, which has allowed us to get to it today.”

Milan qualified for the final after dispatching city rivals Inter Milan, while Bologna made light work of Empoli to secure the ticket.

Maignan further stated that they are focused on giving their best and doing what they know how to do best.

Speaking on the defensive unit, the Frenchman said he is always confident, no matter the information Sergio Conceicao adopts.

“I always have confidence in my teammates. There are moments when the wind turns in our favour, and even if we put nine players at the back, the wind blows against us, we can concede goals.

“Now we are in a good moment and we have to take advantage and continue like this because it hasn’t always been like this.”

The Rossoneri, who already won the Supercoppa this season, are in the 8th position in the Serie A table. This doesn’t bother Maignan, who said everything that happened before doesn’t matter anymore, as the squad is not thinking about the matches that are coming up against Roma and Monza.

As Milan were able to move past Inter via two legs, they will need to win this trophy to at least give Conceicao a glimpse of hope about his job.

The former Porto boss is under huge pressure due to their inconsistent performance in the league.
