AC Milan are making inquiries about the availability of Arsenal attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, as John Stones prepares to join the club as a free agent.
Italian transfer expert, Matteo Moretto, said the Rossoneri enquired about Arsenal talent.
Nwaneri, who spent the last six months on loan with Olympique Marseille, could be loaned out again in order to get more first team experience, as the Arsenal midfield seems crowded.
Should Mikel Areta succeed in bringing Newcastle midfielder to the club, Nwaneri’s chance could be limited.
Although he can also play from the flanks, Arsenal will obviously prefer he gets more exposure in order to plan for the future.
Moretto claimed that there have been contacts between the Rossoneri and Arsenal as Milan sounded out the 19-year-old’s availability.
Milan are also competing with other clubs for his signature. They include bundesliga side RB Leipzig, and English sides Fulham and Everton.
Arsenal could also allow the 19-year-old leave on a permanent transfer and keeping control over him.
Should this happen, the Gunners would add a buy-back option in the deal or keep the right to match any future offer.
Milan have strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, which is under a month away, witnessing the arrival of Gonçalo Ramos, Mario Gila, and Sankhoun Diawara.
With Stone set to join imminently, they are looking for a new attacking midfielder who would replace Rafael Leao in their XI next season.
Meanwhile, Milan head coach Ruben Amorim still want to add a striker to his squad and has made a specific request for the club to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Olympique de Marseille.
Before this move can happen, the Rossoneri must first sell some unwanted players before bringing in any new midfield reinforcements.
Amorim is therefore hoping to completely transform Milan’s style of play this summer as he aims to build a possession-dominant side that, with high intensity, high pressing, and the ability to win the ball back high up the pitch.
The former Manchester United coach thus need to have a team capable of playing the way he wants.
Amorim is still targeting a handful of new signings, and according to reports from Calciomercato.com, Marseille’s Hojbjerg is a top target for the Rossoneri.
The Italian news outlet said Milan need to sell at least two midfielders before bringing in any new options in the middle of the park. They may sell Ricci and Fofana are reportedly the most likely to be sold.
