Monaco inquire about Perrin, lose Salisbury to ACL injury

Monaco have made inquiries about the availability of Gaëtan Perrin, just six months after the midfielder left France for the Russian League.

The club also suffered an injury blow as defender Mohammed Salisu’s season is over after he suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Salisu, who sustained the injury late in the match against Lyon on Saturday, will be out for the rest of the season.

This is a huge blow for Monaco as they announced on Monday evening that the 26-year-old has suffered a serious injury.

The former Southampton player already played 12 Ligue 1 games, scoring one goal this season. He also featured in one Coupe de France match and five Champions League matches.

The Club, in their statement, promises to support the defender throughout his recovery and offer him their full backing.

“ Stay strong, Sali, we’re with you,” wrote AS Monaco on X.

Salisu will now join Takumi Minamino on the treatment table for the rest of the season. Monaco are also missing Lukas Hradecky, Ansu Fati, Paul Pogba, and Christian Mawissa.

With the winter window already open, Monaco will be fighting with AJ Auxerre to sign Perrin.

The 29-year-old, who can also play as a winger, left the Ligue 1 to join FC Krasnodar last summer.

Perrin is reportedly looking for a return to France as his adaptation in Russia has not gone as hoped. The Frenchman, who had featured in 20 matches in all competitions this season, has struggled to fully settle at Krasnodar, where he remains under contract until 2028.

According to reports, Monaco and  Auxerre want him on an initial loan deal until the end of the season.

The interest in Perrin stems from a strong impression he left during his previous spell in Burgundy, and the Ligue 2 side believe he could provide a significant boost in the second half of the campaign.

Despite his present situation in France, Krasnodar are not ready to the idea of a loan exit as they are reluctant to sanction a temporary departure, despite the player’s mixed first half of the season.

On the part of Monaco, they made enquiries in recent days due to the close relationship between the ownership of Monaco and Krasnodar. Initial discussions have reportedly taken place, although the Ligue 1 club have yet to accelerate their interest.
