PSG sets to build team around Messi as future of Neymar, Mbappe remain unclear

After recapturing the Ligue 1 title from LOSC Lille, PSG could lose Kylian Mbappe and Neymar this summer.

Mbappe is reportedly discussing a deal with Real Madrid, his dream club.

As part of its new process for addition and subtraction, the new Ligue 1 champions are considering the futures of both coach Mauricio Pochettino and sporting director Leonardo.

According to Sky Sports, PSG could sack Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine seems not to impress the club after failing to win the Champion’s league trophy. They were ousted by Real Madrid in the last 16.

This, Messi will be at the club for at least one more season as the club prepares to build the team around him. It is most likely to happen under a new manager.

The grouse of the PSG management is that the Pochettino failed to perform up to expectation despite winning the local league.

With the formidable front three of Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe, many had rated the Paris club to win the trophy.

Ahead of the new season, it is expected that Messi will challenge for the Champions League.

This was expected to be difficult because the six-times world footballer of the year is in his first season at the Parc des Princes.

Sky Sports News further reported that Messi remains committed to this cause, but it will be difficult with Mbappe becoming a free agent after the expiration of his contract at the end of the season.

It is no longer news that the teenage striker is having talks with Real Madrid, but PSG could also allow Neymar to move on if he wishes despite signing a new deal at the beginning of the current season.

If the pair leaves, it means the team will rebuild again this summer at the beginning of a new cycle. This, according to reports, will likely happen under a new first-team boss and in a way to get the most from Messi.

The mercurial striker secured the Ligue 1 title for the Paris club with an excellent strike against RC Lens – a game they eventually drew 1-1.

Showing such brilliance is a sign of good things to come for PSG.
