PSG wait as Konaté unhappy with latest contract offer from Liverpool

Reports have emerged that Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté is disappointed with the latest terms offered to him in negotiations over a new contract with the club.

The 26-year-old France international has a year left on his deal.

According to the latest reports, the situation could make Paris Saint-Germain wait till next summer and may sign him on a free transfer.

The Guardian reported that the Reds are eager to tie him down to a new deal.

The disappointment of the 26-year-old, according to reports, is that the new proposal is heavily reliant on performance bonuses as his representatives are pushing for a higher initial wage from the Merseyside outfit.

The premier league champions could return to the negotiating table to offer the Frenchman a new contract but insist they will not overpay to keep the former RB Leipzig defender at Anfield.

If both parties fail to reach an agreement for a new contract, the centre-back will be free to discuss terms over a potential pre-contract agreement with clubs on the continent from January.

The latest development has de Real Madrid and PSG that are interested in his services to monitor the situation.

The French champions that recently lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy for the first time in their history are prepared to wait a year to sign Konaté on a free transfer.

This is following a report from Sports Zone that his contract situation has attracted the interest of clubs across the continent, including Les Parisiens.

Being a childhood fan of the Paris club, it will not be hard for Les Parisien to convince the defender who grew up in the French capital.

According to Sports Zone,  the UEFA Champions League winners want to have a high-quality defensive roster, and the former RB Leipzig defender would be pivotal to that.
