Real Madrid is set to trigger the buy-back clause of talented midfielder Nico Paz, who has been impressing in Serie A with Como.
According to reports, the Spanish giants will activate the clause worth €8 million, allowing Paz to potentially join the team for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Paz’s impressive performance this season earned him the Serie A Best U-23 Player award, with six goals and eight assists in the league.
The 20-year-old midfielder, a graduate of Real Madrid’s youth academy, signed with Como in the summer of 2024 for €6 million.
Under the guidance of coach Cesc Fabregas, Paz quickly became a standout player, leading Serie A in goal-creating actions with 16 and topping the charts for successful take-ons with 69 players dribbled past.
Real Madrid’s decision to trigger the buy-back clause is reportedly influenced by Paz’s exceptional form and the interest of new coach Xabi Alonso, who could be tempted to bring him back to the Bernabeu.
Alonso might see Paz as a valuable addition to the team, given his versatility as an attacking midfielder or winger.
The buy-back clause was part of the initial deal when Real Madrid sold Paz to Como, with options to repurchase him for €8 million this summer, €9 million in 2026, and €10 million in 2027. Real Madrid’s strategy seems to be paying off, as they maintain control over one of their promising young talents.
If Real Madrid triggers the buy-back clause, Paz could join the team for their upcoming tour in the United States, where they’ll face Al-Hilal on June 19.
Paz’s return could also be timed to coincide with the FIFA Club World Cup, potentially giving Real Madrid a significant boost.
Paz’s future at Real Madrid looks promising, with many expecting him to make a significant impact under Xabi Alonso’s guidance.
With his impressive stats and growing reputation in Serie A, Nico Paz is certainly a player to watch in the coming seasons.
