Ruben Neves is one of the best players in the Premier League, and many of the Big 6 clubs have been tempted to sign the Wolves player.
But it seems that the Red Devils are the ones that would have the best chance of taking over the player’s services, all thanks to Joao Palhinha.
Sporting Lisbon midfielder Palhinha could be close to signing for Wolves. In fact, the player was in the sights of Manchester United, and the player was waiting for an offer from the Red Devils, but it did not come.
Thus, 26-year-old Palhinha had decided to join Wolves in a $23 million move led by well-known agent Jorge Mendes.
But Palhinha’s arrival at Wolves would open the door for Neves to leave the team. United have tried several times to sign Neves but have never been able to reach an agreement with Wolves.
With the arrival of new coach Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, things could change as he has the budget and intentions to overhaul the club.
Ten Hag is a fan of Neves, and Neves fits nicely into his plans to add an attack-minded midfielder with defensive capabilities.
Wolves technical director Scott Sellars discussed Neves’ future earlier this week.
“The ideal situation is we want him to stay,” Sellars told the club’s media, “But I’m also realistic that when you’ve got an outstanding player then the top clubs are going to come and try to see what the situation is .”
