AS Roma have maintained their perfect record in this season’s Italian Serie A with another victory at Torino on Monday.
The Gialorossi got the job done through goals from In-form striker Donyell Malen and Niccolò Pisilli.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s men, in their last Serie A game, came back from a goal down in the 88th minute to beat his former side Atalanta 2-1.
They were, however, held 1-1 by Fenerbahce in their Champions League opener in Istanbul on Thursday.
The gaffer couldn’t call on Evan Ndicka, Wesley and Manu Koné due to injuries sustained in the midweek tie. He then handed Leonardo Balerdi and Nahuel Molina their first starts.
Toro were without striker Che Adams and Cesare Casadei. Others on the treatment table include Pietro Pellegri and Franco Israel, while Giovanni Simeone and Saul Coco are not hundred percent fit.
Malen has scored each time he plays against Torino, having made his debut in this stadium back in January 2026.
The Dutch striker nearly opened the goal-scoring chart after 10 minutes with a diving header over from six yards on the Mario Hermoso cross.
His strike was later deflected wide after Matias Soulé was wasteful with a heavy first touch. He was also stopped from scoring as Coco made a desperate clearance in the six-yard box, preventing him from getting on the end of Emanuele Lulli’s pull-back after squirming between two.
Malen eventually scored, but his goal was ruled out for offside in the 22nd minute as he was clearly offside when starting the run from midfield.
Torino’s chance came through Eray Comert, but he blasted it over while Rolando Mandragora tested Mile Svilar from distance.
Paulo Dybala also had a chance, but his free header was wide from 12 yards.
Roma eventually broke the deadlock when Dybala intercepted a wayward Lucas Perri pass out from defense and set up Malen.
His first attempt was blocked by Pietro Comuzzo and the goalkeeper, but the Dutchman managed to stick out a boot and prod the loose ball into the net from six yards.
Emanuele Lulli almost scored with a stunner with his volley just over after acrobatically combining with Malen.
Torino then came close to restoring parity as Simeone sprung the offside trap on a Daniel Braganca pass, but Svilar rushed off his line to charge down the dinked finish with his chest.
As the hosts searched for the equalizer, Roma made it 2-0 in stoppages when Gianluca Mancini kept the ball in play at the by-line, and Dybala was blocked off, but Pisilli fired in the angled drive. He immediately went down in agony with a cramp, ruining his celebration.
