Woltemade promises Juventus fans a physical style of play

Nick Woltemade has told Juventus supporters to expect a very physical style of play from him after completing a season loan move from Newcastle United to the club.

The German, who is likely to make his debut against Milan on Sunday, insisted there is far more to his game than the gigantic frame suggests.

Speaking to the Corriere dello Sport, the German said he is ready to throw himself straight in against the Rossoneri.

He further stated that his best and most important qualities are his technique and his understanding of the game.

Describing himself as an intelligent footballer, Woltemade said he knows how to score, assist, and how to play the final pass for his teammates.

“ I think I’m good at finding the right position on the pitch, and I think you often see a tall lad who plays like me,” he added.

Woltemade stated further that not many players are as tall as him, but took inspiration from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whom he said he has always liked watching because he was a very tall striker with good technique.

Ibrahimovic had stints with both clubs before hanging up his boot. He is now part of the management at San Siro.

“I also like Kai Havertz, who is a friend of mine. I always try to take a little from everyone and make those characteristics my own,” he added.

Woltemade, who joined the Tyneside club from Stuttgart last season, scored 11 goals and five assists in 51 appearances, three of them headers, in a campaign the paper describes as a rollercoaster. 

He arrives in a Juventus team that have already won their first two games of the season against Frosinone and Parma.

The striker also made it clear he sees the side’s control of possession as suiting him, adding that he can bring a bit of quality, and his ability to score can further help his teammates win, which is important too.
