On Wednesday, Tiger Woods officially became a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. The 15-time major winner, who continues to recover from the horrible accident he survived last February, has spent more than 25 years as a professional golf player and has produced some very fantastic performances that would go down in golfing history.
Currently the second on the list of most major wins, behind Jack Nicklaus with 18, Woods is one of five men who have won the Career Grand Slam. The Career Grand Slam is when a player wins all four majors – the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, US Open, The Open Championship – in one calendar year. Woods became the youngest player to do so at age 21 in 1997, a year after turning pro. In all, he has won 82 PGA titles, tied with Sam Snead for the most wins. He has also won 41 European Tour titles, holding the record of the third-most wins.
Woods has been of the most influential figures in the world of sports for the past two decades and has endeared many people to golf as a sport. In 2021, he was the player that helped golf generate the most attention from the media, despite playing in just one tournament game. The accident he was involved in last year February has kept him from the game for a long time. At the PNC Championship in December, he had to be moved around in a golf cart.
Tiger, real name Eldrick Tont Woods, has won the PGA Player of the Year 13 times and has been gold number one for a total of 683 weeks, which is more than 13 years. Woods has two children. His 12-year-old son, Charlie, has been his partner twice at the PNC Championship. His 14-year-old daughter, Sam, introduced him for induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
