English Women Take T20I Lead To 4-0 Against West Indies

The English female team has secured another victory over West Indies as they finished with a score of 166-6 from 20 overs, with a 44-run lead, to claim their 4th win while leaving their opponents( 122-9 from 20 overs) with no win so far. They finished with their highest score yet in the series and the signs are making it more obvious that the host is going to whitewash their visitor when they complete the series on Wednesday.

England owes much of her success to Amy Jones who scored 55 from 37 balls, her fifth T20 half-century. But she was not alone as she had strong support from her teammates. Skipper Heather Knight scored 42 from 29 while Katherine Brunt scored 25 not out from 17 balls. England’s win comes as a bit of a surprise because they started the day weak, with just 45-3 after 9 overs, compared to the strong start West Indies had. By the 10th over, the West Indies had 63-4 while England had 54-3.

But they were able to increase their pace as the match went on, making very good use of the remaining 11 overs.

Jones was able to come back after being dropped for 2 by Lee-Ann Kirby and mid-wicket and she went she came back, she did it with so much force. Brunt helped in dropping Deandra Dottin while Sarah Glenn removed Stefanie Taylor and Hayley Matthews. This greatly affected West Indies’ dominance. Chedean Nation was West Indies’ top scorer with 30, while Aaliyah Alleyne was the second top scorer with 15. Despite the score, England could have had something better had Jones and Nat Sciver not dropped catches. Tammy Beaumont was also dropped a few times in the match.

West Indies may have to do a bit of reshuffling to their team as they prepare to face England again. While that would not help them much, it would prevent the series form being an entire whitewash.
