Hawks Add Championship-Winning Guard Aaron Wiggins in Trade With Thunder

The Atlanta Hawks have strengthened their roster by reportedly acquiring guard Aaron Wiggins from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for two future second-round draft picks.

According to reports, the Thunder will receive second-round selections in the 2030 and 2032 NBA Drafts as part of the deal. The move continues Atlanta’s efforts to add experienced players following the reported re-signing of veteran guard CJ McCollum earlier on Sunday.

Wiggins arrives in Atlanta after spending the first five seasons of his NBA career with Oklahoma City. The 27-year-old played an important role as a reliable contributor for the Thunder and was a member of the franchise’s championship-winning team during the 2024-25 season.

Selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft, Wiggins steadily developed into a valuable rotation player during his time in Oklahoma City. Known for his versatility and efficient scoring, he has built a reputation as a dependable two-way guard capable of contributing on both ends of the floor.

During the 2025-26 season, Wiggins averaged 9.4 points per game while shooting 43.1 percent from the field. Over the course of his NBA career, he has averaged 8.7 points per game and maintained an impressive 48.7 percent field-goal percentage.

One of Wiggins’ biggest strengths has been his consistency from beyond the three-point line. He owns a career three-point shooting percentage of 38 percent, providing Atlanta with another perimeter threat as the team looks to improve its offensive depth.

The acquisition adds a player with championship experience to the Hawks’ roster, something that could prove valuable as the franchise seeks to strengthen its position in the Eastern Conference. Wiggins’ ability to contribute as a scorer, floor spacer and defender gives Atlanta additional flexibility in its backcourt rotation.

For Oklahoma City, the trade represents another move focused on future assets. The Thunder add two second-round picks to an already significant collection of draft capital, continuing a long-term strategy that has helped the franchise build one of the league’s deepest and most talented rosters.

With the addition of Wiggins and the retention of key veterans, the Hawks appear focused on enhancing both their experience and depth heading into the upcoming season. Whether in a starting role or as a key contributor off the bench, Wiggins is expected to provide Atlanta with valuable production and playoff-tested experience.
