Pistons Lose Duncan Robinson for Crucial Game 5 Against Cavaliers

The Detroit Pistons suffered a significant setback ahead of Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Cleveland Cavaliers after ruling out guard Duncan Robinson with a sore lower back.

Robinson, one of Detroit’s most reliable offensive contributors during the postseason, was unavailable for Wednesday night’s pivotal clash as the series remained tightly contested. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff turned to Daniss Jenkins as Robinson’s replacement in the starting lineup.

The absence of Robinson removes a major perimeter threat for the Pistons. With Robinson sidelined, added pressure fell on Jenkins, who continues his rapid rise after spending part of the season on a two-way contract. The young guard entered Game 5 averaging 7.5 points and 3.3 assists in the series and was tasked with helping Detroit maintain offensive balance in a hostile road environment.

The timing of Robinson’s injury could prove critical as momentum appeared to be shifting toward Cleveland following their Game 4 victory. His shooting ability has forced the Cavaliers’ defense to stay stretched across the floor, opening opportunities for Detroit’s other scorers and ball-handlers.

For Jenkins, the start represented another major opportunity to establish himself on the playoff stage. The Pistons have relied heavily on their depth throughout the postseason, and the young guard’s composure and playmaking were expected to be key factors in Robinson’s absence.
