Ferran Torres Shines as Barcelona Sweep Getafe in Rain-Soaked La Liga Clash

Barcelona continued their unbeaten run in the 2025-26 La Liga season with a commanding 3-0 win over Getafe on Sunday, led by a brace from Ferran Torres and a standout performance from Dani Olmo. Despite missing key players and playing at a temporary venue, Hansi Flick’s side showed no signs of slowing down.

Playing in front of just 6,000 fans at their rain-drenched Sant Joan Despi training ground, Barça took early control of the match and never looked back. With regular starter Lamine Yamal still out injured and Robert Lewandowski rotated out of the lineup, Flick’s decision to trust Torres once again paid off in full.

The Spanish forward struck first in the 15th minute, capping off a slick team move with a calm finish after Dani Olmo’s clever back-heel assist. He doubled the lead before the half-hour mark, beating the offside trap to latch onto a pass from Raphinha and slotting the ball past Getafe keeper David Soria.

Torres nearly had a first-half hat-trick, rounding Soria but smashing his shot against the crossbar. Even so, his two-goal haul brought his tally to four for the season—just one shy of league-leading Kylian Mbappe.

“I know I can be a starter at Barcelona, and I need to take advantage of every opportunity I get. I’m confident many more goals will come,” Torres told DAZN after the game.

“We have quality players who can find space, and we’ve done well in that regard, and I’m glad that we won another one in decisive fashion,” he added.

The second half saw no let-up from Barcelona. England’s Marcus Rashford, introduced in the 63rd minute after being rested from midweek Champions League action, wasted no time making his mark. A powerful run down the right wing ended with a precise cross to Olmo, who tucked in the third goal from inside the box to round off a dominant display.

Barcelona now sit second in the La Liga table with 13 points, trailing Real Madrid—who remain perfect after five games—by two points. Despite the ongoing absence from Camp Nou, which is still undergoing renovations nine months behind schedule, the Catalan club continues to thrive.

With the Lluis Companys Olympic stadium unavailable, Barca’s adaptability at their training ground venue is becoming a quiet strength. Their next challenge comes on Thursday away at Real Oviedo, while Getafe, now in eighth, host Alaves on Wednesday.
