Gnabry’s hot start sparks hope for Bayern and Germany

Serge Gnabry’s future at Bayern Munich has often been questioned, with transfer rumors swirling in recent seasons.

Despite debates within the club’s leadership, Bayern opted to keep the dynamic winger. His inconsistency since the 2019/20 sextuple-winning campaign under Hansi Flick, coupled with persistent injuries, has made it tough for Gnabry to replicate that peak form.

Adapting to the tactical shifts under managers like Flick, Niko Kovac, Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel, and Vincent Kompany has also posed challenges for him and Bayern’s attacking unit.

This season, however, Gnabry has hit the ground running. He’s started three of Bayern’s four matches, only coming off the bench in their 3-2 DFB-Pokal win against Wehen Wiesbaden.

In the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup triumph over VfB Stuttgart, Gnabry delivered an assist. He followed that with two assists in a 6-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig and a goal in a 3-2 Bundesliga victory over FC Augsburg, showcasing his attacking flair and growing influence.

Julian Nagelsmann, Germany’s head coach, has taken notice. Gnabry’s performances earned him a call-up to the national team for World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and Northern Ireland.

During the squad announcement press conference, Nagelsmann praised Gnabry’s early-season form, raising expectations for his contributions on the international stage.

For both Bayern and Germany, the hope is that Gnabry can sustain this momentum and steer clear of injuries, which have disrupted his rhythm in past seasons.

When fit and firing, Gnabry’s pace, creativity, and finishing make him a vital asset. If he maintains this level of consistency, he could silence doubters and reestablish himself as a cornerstone for club and country, turning one step forward into a steady march toward success.
