Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is expected to make his senior England debut during the upcoming World Cup warm-up matches in the United States.
The 22-year-old has joined the national team’s training camp in Florida as part of a group of supplementary players invited by head coach Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Scott is training alongside fellow additional squad members Rio Ngumoha, Josh King, Jason Steele, and Ethan Nwaneri.
Their inclusion comes as England await the arrival of several players who were involved in recent European finals, including Arsenal quartet Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke, as well as Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace.
Although none of the five supplementary players were selected in England’s final World Cup squad, they are eligible to feature in the friendly matches against New Zealand national football team and Costa Rica national football team.
The group will remain with the squad throughout the Florida training camp even after the late-arriving players report for duty.
Scott’s presence carries added significance because he was included in Tuchel’s provisional 55-man squad before being left out of the final 26-man selection.
As a result, he remains the only player among the supplementary group who could realistically earn a late call-up should injuries affect the main squad before the tournament begins.
The midfielder received his first senior England call-up in November for matches against Serbia and Albania, but did not make an appearance.
He was subsequently omitted from squads for fixtures against Japan and Uruguay before narrowly missing out on World Cup selection.
Despite that disappointment, Scott’s positive response has impressed England’s coaching staff.
Tuchel praised the Bournemouth star’s attitude and commitment, revealing that Scott immediately accepted the opportunity to join the pre-tournament camp despite his omission.
The German coach said the midfielder’s reaction demonstrated strong character and professionalism, adding that he was delighted to have him involved as England complete their preparations for the World Cup.
A debut in the forthcoming friendlies would mark another important milestone in Scott’s rapid rise at both club and international level.
