Former Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has reacted to being linked with the vacant post at Juventus, following the sack of Igor Tudor.
The Bianconeri had wanted to relieve the former Croatia international of his role this summer, but gave him a new contract as their main. Antonio Conte renewed his contract with Napoli after leading them to the Scudetto last season.
Speaking about rumours linking him with the Juventus job, Spalletri said whoever replaces Igor Tudor will be lucky.
Spalletti is the leading candidate for the Juventus job. According to multiple sources in Italy, former Roma boss and Bianconeri director Damien Comolli will sit down to discuss contract details.
Meanwhile, this is happening coincidentally as Spalletti had already planned a meeting with the media on Tuesday morning to unveil a new advertisement in which he features alongside Roma legend, Francesco Totti. The ad was released this week.
Speaking with Sky Sport via Gazzetta about his latest sponsorship commitment, the tactician who led Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years said he feels well.
I wait with serenity. I have the ambition to set things right,” the ex-Italy coach added.
Speaking highly of Tudor, Spalletti described him as a serious and passionate person who has a well-trained team.
Juventus sacked Tudor on Monday following three straight defeats in three consecutive matches, failing to score in the last four.
Speaking about his reunion with Totti, which has made headlines in Italy because of their public dispute during the coach’s second spell at the Stadio Olimpico, Spalletti said it feels so good to sit next to the former Italy international.
“There were some risky choices, but we spent some marvellous years together, so when Ramazzotti put us back together, I was very happy and he was quite relaxed.”
Within 24 hours, Juventus could announce a new manager.
