The sanctions imposed by the British government on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich have put the Club on the brink of a series of crises.
Currently, the Club is looking for a new owner, but all operations are frozen until that happens. Therefore, new players cannot be signed, nor can new contracts be offered to club members, players, or coaching staff.
Without the possibility of negotiating contract extensions with the players, the Club is on the verge of losing essential players like Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen.
The following season will be a great challenge for the Blues because even if the sale of the Club goes through, the new owners may not have the same capital as Abramovich, and the Club will have to operate with tighter budgets.
The Plan for the Next Season
Given that things can get complicated for next season, the Club is already thinking about how it can deal with the departure of key players and the possible low budget for signings. The plan is to take advantage of the young players.
For example, Conor Gallagher has impressed this season with Crystal Palace.
The player’s performance has caused him to be compared to N’Golo Kante.
“Kante is a brilliant player, he does so many good things for the side, but he has never got goals and I see that in Conor Gallagher.
“I think he can do what Kante can do, and give you a return of goals in numbers as well.
“He can get into the 18-yard box and ten seconds later he can make a tackle in his own 18-yard box. There aren’t many players in the game who can do that, and Conor Gallagher is one of them.
“I’d be amazed if Tuchel doesn’t have him back for next season, to be ready to fight for a place in that Chelsea starting line-up.” said former Irish footballer Tony Cascarino.
Armando Brojan is another of the young figures that the blues have. The 20-year-old Albanian player is on loan at Southampton and has scored nine times this season.
Chelsea has to work hard to maintain the quality of their squad and remain one of the great clubs in England.
