Tottenham set to sign West Ham forward

Tottenham Hotspur has agreed a £55 million deal to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United. 

The Ghana international is set to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract with the north London club. This move follows Tottenham’s initial £50 million offer being rejected by West Ham last week.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in a £38 million deal in 2023, has made 65 Premier League appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists. 

The 24-year-old has been prioritized by Tottenham over other top clubs that have shown interest in him. He is expected to sign a six-year contract with the club.

The player has reportedly been pushing for this transfer behind the scenes, viewing Tottenham as the perfect next step in his career development. 

Tottenham’s manager Thomas Frank had initially targeted Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, but the Cameroon international’s preference for Manchester United has shifted the focus to Kudus.

Kudus’s impressive debut season with West Ham saw him score 14 goals and register six assists in all competitions. However, his attacking output was less impressive last term, with just nine goal contributions in total. 

Despite this, he is highly rated by many football experts, with former player Danny Murphy naming him as a player Liverpool should consider signing this summer.

Tottenham has already bolstered their front line with the signing of Mathys Tel on a permanent £38 million deal from Bayern Munich. 

Kudus will likely be available for Tottenham’s pre-season opener against Reading on July 19. The club is also exploring a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa.

The deal marks the end of a lengthy pursuit by Tottenham, who had been chasing Kudus for several weeks. With this signing, Kudus will become the third player to join Spurs from West Ham since Scott Parker in 2011.
