Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are firmly committed to following McLaren’s directives as the 2025 Formula 1 season approaches its final races.
The 2025 season has been a landmark chapter in McLaren’s history, with Norris and Piastri delivering exceptional performances that have propelled the team far ahead in the Constructors’ Championship.
Together, they have secured 11 wins out of 14 races and achieved a record-tying streak of one-two finishes, matching the legendary Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost partnership from 1988.
Piastri currently leads Norris by 16 points in the Drivers’ Championship, yet both maintain a high level of mutual respect and harmony, which is a sharp contrast to more acrimonious rivalries of the past.
McLaren boss Zak Brown has publicly stated he will not impose team orders prematurely, opting instead to “let ’em race” freely unless one driver clearly establishes a decisive lead in the championship.
This policy spells out McLaren’s confidence in both Norris and Piastri to compete fairly without undermining the team’s goals.
Norris reiterated this sentiment recently, acknowledging the challenge of competing alongside a close teammate but affirming he remains focused on delivering the best results possible for the team.
Piastri also expressed willingness to follow team commands as the situation demands, showing a professional commitment to McLaren’s collective success. When asked if they would swap positions similarly to what happened at Monza, both drivers replied in the affirmative.
Despite the tight points race, McLaren’s emphasis remains on maintaining a cooperative environment. Team principal Andrea Stella has stressed the importance of learning from past experiences and allowing both drivers equal opportunities while protecting the team’s championship aspirations.
The McLaren approach balances fierce on-track competition between Norris and Piastri with strategic unity as the season edges toward its climax.
As the final races approach, both Norris and Piastri understand that the priority is not only individual glory but also securing the Constructors’ title for McLaren.
They have pledged to abide by team orders when necessary, making sure that McLaren’s dominance in 2025 leads to a resounding success.
