Bayern star close to return after long-term injury lay-off

Jamal Musiala has returned to the Bayern Munich training pitch, marking a positive step in his recovery, though the Bundesliga star’s official comeback to competitive action is likely still a month away.

Speaking prior to yesterday’s evening Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl provided an update on the 22-year-old’s rehabilitation timeline.

Eberl revealed there were initial thought that he would return in December, adding that he might get a few minutes of playing time before the end of the calendar year to ensure he was 100 percent fit by January.

Bayern have little urgency to hasten Musiala’s return, given their exceptional form across all competitions.

The German record champions remain unbeaten in the 2025/26 season, extending their remarkable winning streak to 14 consecutive victories in competitive matches with Saturday’s convincing defeat of Bayer Leverkusen. Notably, this result was achieved despite the absence of several key players, including Musiala.

No club in European football has matched Bayern’s dominance this year. The team’s depth and versatility have been instrumental in maintaining their momentum.

In Musiala’s absence from the No. 10 role, players such as Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise, Lennart Karl, Harry Kane, and even Raphaël Guerreiro have stepped up effectively, delivering consistent performances in attacking midfield.

Musiala, widely regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young talents, has been sidelined due to injury, but his gradual reintegration into training suggests a structured and cautious approach to his recovery.

Bayern’s medical and coaching staff appear committed to ensuring the Germany international returns at full strength, avoiding any risk of setback.

With the team performing at an elite level and a robust squad capable of covering his position, Bayern can afford patience.

Musiala’s eventual return will only strengthen an already formidable side, poised to continue their pursuit of domestic and European silverware in the months ahead.
